Dealing with obstacles and challenges is a regular part of creative life, and overcoming them isn’t always easy. Led by STEAMhouse Technician Chris Hay this hands on taster workshop will focus on how to create new ideas with simple methodology, materials and thinking.

Taking you through a design process from start to finish in under two hours, the small prototypes generated in the session will be incorporated into a larger piece of work that looks at the creative process and approaches to design.

Suitable for anyone who is interested in design or with ideas for new products or services, there will also be an opportunity to find out more about STEAMhouse and how to get involved. Please note participants must be aged 18 or over.

Workshop Leader

Chris Hay’s background is the design, production and fabrication of jewellery, with traditional craft training sitting alongside digital 3D design and rapid prototyping for manufacture. He enjoys challenging traditional craft and questioning pre-defined borders or ideas. He runs STEAMhouse’s metal workshop and works with members who are developing a wide range of projects, from robots to artworks.
