A fact about Chris Hay

Chris Hay's ideal STEAMlabs delegate

Creative problem solving is currently one of my main area’s of interest, I love to see the many approaches and applications of creative thinking within a group & how that translates to the world.

My background is design, production & fabrication of jewellery, traditional craft training sit’s alongside digital 3D design & rapid prototyping for manufacture. I enjoy challenging a traditional craft and questioning any pre-defined borders or ideas.

Interpretation coupled with practical advice & creative application of technique.

Collaboration to me is an interesting way to work that produces new perspective for a wide variety of challenges and ideas.

I would like to develop my networks & relationships within the creative disciplines of the West Midlands, exposing me to new ways of working & thinking.

To look at the relationship people have with jewellery and research sensory materials for interaction & meaning.

The Piano Doorbell has to be one of the many items I just don’t want to let go. It’s probably the most interactive doorbell in the world!

I’ve always secretly wondered, what it would be like as the goldsmith for Francisco Scaramanga.

For me it would be the silversmith David Clark, his work will always be an inspiration to budding silversmiths & design professionals alike.
