A fact about Steve Harding

Steve Harding's ideal STEAMlabs delegate

I head up a team in BCU focussed on collaborative working.

This ranges from STEAM – putting arts and creativity onto STEM, to policy making on city strategy for innovation and creativity and European networking

I’m from a SME support background and I have a PhD in how small firms can benefit from networking to introduce new products and services.

I chair the Moseley Community Development Trust, The Initiative for Social Entrepreneurs and the Europe Association (for Birmingham City Council).

My role in STEAMhouse is to have conversations with individuals and organisations who want to test out new ideas and are open to change. I work with the team to then focus on how we can best plan our work together in Birmingham and internationally.

For me it’s about “curiosity”, working with people who are open minded and willing to share so we can together work out new approaches to problems.

I’d like us to tackle a practical and strategic issue for our city. We face many challenges from employment, low skills, homelessness and access to health care for all.

Better access to healthcare for Birmingham citizens

That’s hard! My iphone for music and radio – but that’s cheating

So I’ll say my trowel for gardening

I can only watch Arsenal after the match- too stressful otherwise!

Clement Atlee – a practical politician who changed things
